Townsville Delivers For The National Kite Foil Series
Published Sun 25 Jul 2021
The National Kite Foil Series took place in Townsville. A snap 3 day lockdown almost put a hold on the event, but thankfully for competitors and organisers the lockdown ended at 6pm Friday allowing for competition to start as planned on Saturday morning.
The event saw registrations from participants from New Zealand to Western Australia and everywhere in between. Unfortunatley a significant portion of those registrations were unable to make it to the start line with cancelled flights and the questions marks over whether the event could proceed or not. Despite the lockdown there were still 17 kiteboarders lined up at the start line and without the lockdown this could have been significantly more.
The next stop of the National Kite Foil Series is set for Adelaide on the 6th & 7th of November followed by the National Championships between the 1st and 5th of December, 2021.
Thank you to the Townsville Kite Racing Club, Townsville Yacht Club & all the volunteers who supported the event.
