Kiteboarding and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games
Published Tue 15 May 2018
Kiteboarding is one step closer to becoming an Olympic event after the World Sailing (WS) council approved a submission proposing that a mixed gender kiteboarding event be part of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
There were over 50 submissions put forward from national members, many of which had kiteboarding as a proposed event. A “mixed team” event creates additional race strategy, excitement, compelling media appeal whilst fostering equality of men and women’s sport. The exact format and equipment for the event is yet to be determined and will be further discussed by WS.

This is an exciting time for our sport and we look forward to sharing further developments with our community. Kiteboarding Australia will aim to work closely with our State Associations and Australian Sailing to offer our members access to events and development pathways hopefully to the Olympics in Paris 2024.
