KWA 2024/25 Female Development Series - Surfboard Riding Intro and Progression in Flatwater (with former State Wave Champion Anh Dao) 

When:  Saturday, 8 February 2025, 1:00-3:00 pm (start time may change depending on wind)

Note: The clinic may be cancelled or postponed if we do not get enough wind. Potential backup dates will be communicated at that time.

What to expect

This development clinic is the right thing for you if you are new to riding a surfboard and want to spend an afternoon with like-minded girls! If you are already riding in the waves look out for different events for more advanced riders.

You can expect a small friendly group with coaching from an experienced instructor. Focus areas will be tailored to your goals and may include equipment choice, how to get going, stance, kite position and flying, toeside riding or gybes.   

The clinic will be held on 8 February 2025 from approx. 1:00 pm to 3:00pm. Start time, meeting point and course will be confirmed closer to the date. Please keep the day flexible to allow for time adjustments due to wind conditions etc. 

Participation requirements

1. The clinic is for ladies of all ages.
2. Participants need to be intermediate riders on a twin tip, with good kite control and comfortably going upwind both ways.
3. You should also know how to swim and how to perform a self-rescue.  
4.  You must bring your own gear (i.e. kite, bar, harness, pump, wetsuit, board). If you have no own surfboard please let the instructor know in advance.   
5.  You need to be a Kiteboarding Australia/KWA Member. Single-event membership is available, see more info below.
6. Event registration is essential - click on the 'Register' button. This is in addition to membership sign-up if you are not an existing KA member.
7. Please include a valid phone number in your registration profile.
8. Communications with your instructor ahead of the session will likely be via WhatsApp, please have the app installed!

KA Membership

To participate you need to be signed up as KA member. If you are not a member yet, you can choose one of the following options:

• Full membership - $190 for new Members ($165 for renewal) - If you plan to attend two or more events this season and want to support our sport, sign up here for a full annual membership for Kiteboarding Australia. This lets you participate in all Kiteboarding Australia events (e.g. Santa Downwinder), competitions and clinics and will give you access to insurance, including recreational public liability and personal accident insurance. 
• Price for non-KA/KWA Members: $165 ($169.90 inc. fees). Consider becoming a full member if you plan to attend two or more KA events this season and want to support our sport. If you do not want to become a member, select the non-member registration option. The cost for this option is higher as it covers the cost for a single event membership.
